Who will hold the FA Cup trophy this year..?

You are probably asking yourself what is the FA Cup and why is it worth writing about?

The FA Cup stands for The Football Association Challenge Cup. The FA Cup is an annual knockout tournament in men's domestic English football. The tournament consists of 12 rounds of games and teams from Level 10 and above from the English football league system are eligible to participate.

This competition first started in 1871 (149 years ago). This year, due to the coronavirus, the tournament was postponed and the quarter-finals were played on June 27th and 28th. On June 27th Manchester United (Man Utd) beat Norwich City 2-1 and there were 3 games on June 28th. Arsenal beat Sheffield United 2-1 and Chelsea beat Leicester City 1-0. Then Manchester City (Man City) beat Newcastle 2-0. The four winning teams - Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd - played in the semi-finals on July 18th and 19th.

Arsenal beat Man City 2-0 on July 18th and Chelsea beat Man Utd 3-2 on July 19th. Both of these games were fun to watch and very exciting but mostly one sided for Chelsea and Arsenal. The Arsenal game against Man City was an upset and was unpredictable. Arsenal has been so inconsistent this season and had lost to Man City 3-0 in the first game back from the coronavirus break. Prior to this game I thought Man City would have won this game. The Chelsea vs. Man Utd game on the 19th should have been a very tight game considering they were both in a race to secure the 3rd and 4th spot in the English Premier League. Man Utd defense did not play as well as I thought they would have considering they had Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (the two best Man Utd defenders) on the field. I would have thought that Man Utd's defense would have conceded less goals and been able to stop Chelsea's attack. I was also surprised that Man Utd's attack could not produce more in front of the goal with having a very good young front three, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and the youngster, Mason Greenwood. Chelsea took advantage of Man Utd's mistakes and produced goals and a big win for the club.

The final game of the FA Cup - Chelsea vs. Arsenal - is this Saturday at 12:30pm est. This game is very important for Arsenal because if they can win this game against Chelsea they will be in next year's Europa League. In this final, I do not favor Arsenal to win. This game will be closer than the semi-final games, but might be a much higher scoring game due to the lack of defense on both teams. Both teams also have spent a large amount of money on their attacks and have produced high number of goals against big clubs. My prediction is that the result of this game will be a 3-2 victory for Chelsea. Chelsea will hold up the FA Challenge Trophy at the end of the day as the 2019-2020 FA Cup winners!
