As I sit here thinking of a good intro to this article, I can't forget the state our world is in. Without sports the material to discuss on a weekly basis shrinks. So today, I'm going to discuss predictions for the NFL 2020 season, if we see the 2020 season.
The NFC East is a division of young QB's and new head coaches. Every team has made a coaching change except for the Eagles. This division has talent, so with saying that I think the Cowboys are gonna be 12-4 because of that talent. Without the talent they are what they were last year, an 8-8 mediocre football team. The Eagles will be 9-7 because they have locked up their defense but with Wentz's injury history, this team will be lucky to get to .500. The Redskins (7-9), and Giants (6-10) will not improve the way they would like, but the improvement is there and you have to look at the bright side.
The NFC North is wide open, and any four of these teams could win the division, but I'm thinking GB. Green Bay went to the NFC Championship Game last year with a decent defense and a good offense. That shows that they can win even without the star talent. I think they will be 11-5. The Vikings had a good year last year shocking the world beating the Saints in the Superdome. However, they got rid of their best wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, and one of their best defensive players Everson Griffen. They will finish 10-6 though. The final two teams are interesting because, the Lions, I think will be 9-7 because they're getting back what I think, is a Pro Bowl Matthew Stafford. The Bears will finish dead last at 5-11 because they have no real interest in starting Trubisky and Foles is not a great starting QB because he thrives in the backup role. Overall it's an interesting division with lots of talent.
With Brady, and Brees this division will surely be competitive. the Saints will finish first because lets be honest, they are the more complete team. They have elite talent on defense and have a rock solid QB who is throwing to the wide receiver who has the most receptions in a single season. The Buccaneers will be competitive with an 11-5 record. They will improve from last year because their QB won't throw picks. That will easily get them four or five more wins from last year making them a team not reckon with. The first shocker of my predictions is that the Panthers and Falcons go 9-7. the reason behind this decision is that I think that if Todd Gurley is healthy for the Falcons and Matt Rhule figures out a new system both of these teams could be sneaky good in the future.
The division that represented the NFC last year isn't getting any stronger or weaker. This division will mostly stay the same except that the Seahawks will win the division with a record of 11-5. The answer to this is plain and simple, RUSSELL WILSON. For the 49ers the playoffs are likely but not the super bowl because they finish with a record of 10-6. Most of this also deals with the QB Jimmy Garoppolo. He can win games but he isn't good enough in my opinion to go on another run like he did this past year. The Rams will look like they never improved because they will finish 9-7. They have a decent QB with a decent defense and a great coach. They're been good before but they have to get real lucky to make a run again at the Lombardi Trophy. Sadly the last team here is Arizona because they're still young but they're aging talent like Larry Fitzgerald doesn't mix with Kyler Murray and Hopkins. Most of this is based on Defense and they don't have a good one, because besides Chandler Jones and Patrick Peterson they have no talent. They'll finish 6-10 and be better than last year. this division is good but could be better.
The records are Bills, 11-5, Pats 8-8, Dolphins 8-8, and Jets 7-9. The Bills added some talent in Diggs, and kept most of their defense from last year. The Pats lost their most talented player and still haven't found a true #1 QB, so this team looks sad for the future. The Dolphins upgraded with Byron Jones and are projected to draft Tua, so if I'm gonna bet on one team on being successful this upcoming year it's Miami. The Jets are sad and still have a weak wide receiver core even more now with Robby Anderson being a free agent. Overall this isn't the best division out there but not the worst by far.
The division looks like this. Steelers 12-4, Ravens 11-5, Bengals 8-8, and Browns 7-9. Yes I said it, the Steelers are gonna win the AFC NORTH because they have BIG Ben back and a fully loaded defense from last year back. The Ravens haven't upgraded the wide receiver position and have lost key defenders in free agency. The Ravens will be the Cowboys of last year except they'll make the playoffs. The Bengals will have the rookie of the year in Joe Burrow, and will bring back the comeback player of the year A.J Green who will be magnificent. The Browns will be sad again and it won't be the coaches fault. It will fall on the defense of Cleveland who will have a bad year and will not be able to stop the offense in their division.
The standings will be Titans 10-6, Texans 9-7, Colts 9-7, and Jaguars 3-13. The Titans signed QB's to a huge deal and kept the King at running back. They will win more games than last year. The Texans will be slightly worst because they traded DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona and in return got an aging running back. Even with a great QB who knows how good they'll be next year. The Colts getting Rivers improves their QB situation for a couple years and will bring back the winning culture to Indianapolis. The Jaguars are tanking and it's obvious to. they got rid of Calais Campbell, Jalen Ramsey, A.J Bouye, and Nick Foles. They're cleaning out shop for either a ton of draft picks or a future QB in next years draft.
The Chiefs will be 13-3, Broncos 9-7, Raiders 7-9, and Chargers 6-10. The Defending Champs are solid at every position currently and have tons of success at the positions they have. The Broncos will have the best running backs in the NFL and will make the playoffs without Peyton Manning and finally get rid of the hole he created when he left. The Raiders haven't upgraded and the only draft pick that seems to have worked out is Josh Jacobs. the chargers don't have a QB so they will not do well, even though they don't have a soccer stadium to play in anymore.
