Starting on Friday, February 14, NBA All Star Weekend begins. A once a year event, is what many NBA fans await for. This years all star weekend festivities will be held in Chicago, at the United Center.

February 14 is the start of All Star Weekend in Chicago. On February 14, the rising stars game will be held at 9 p.m. ET. The rising stars game is a game that consists of first and second year players. There is a U.S team and a World team which consists of players from countries other than the U.S. The U.S roster will consist of Ja Morant who is the front runner for Rookie of the Year. Ja Morant is averaging 17.3 points, and leads all rookies in total points. He also has a great 7.1 assists per game, which leads all rookies. Speaking of Ja Morant's 17.3 points per game. This is second behind the College Player of the Year and number 1 overall pick, Zion Williamson who made his debut late on January 22. Even though Zion Williamson made his debut so late, he still found his way on the rising stars team for the U.S. Other U.S players consist of the the Miami Heat's Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro, Eric Paschall , Miles Bridges, Devonte' Graham, Jaren Jackson Jr., PJ Washington and outstanding second year player, Trae Young. The World team consists of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Deandre Ayton, RJ Barrett, Brandon Clarke, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Rui Hachimura, Svi Mykhailiuk, Josh Okogie, Moritz Wagner and tremendous 2nd year player Luka Doncic who won Rookie of the Year last year.

The next day, on February 15, consists of a 3 event night. The night starts off with the skills competition. The skills competition consists of the NBA's 8 most skilled players. The contestants are Derrick Rose, Patrick Beverley, Domantas Sabonis, Khris Middleton, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Pascal Siakam. Efter the conclusion of this event, the NBA 3 point contest will begin. NBA's 8 most skilled 3 point shooters will face off shooting basketballs from 5 spots on the court. The players will have a total of 70 seconds to shoot 27 shots from these 5 spots, and the most shots made will win. The contestants will consist of Devonte' Graham, Zach LaVine, Duncan Robinson, Trae Young, Buddy Hield, Davis Bertans, Damian Lillard, and last years winner Joe Harris. To finish out this amazing night but not weekend, NBA All Star Weekend's most exciting event will take place. This is the Slam Dunk Contest that will consist of 4 of NBA's most explosive dunkers that will be scored on a scale of 0-50 based on skill, athleticism and creativity. The contestants are Derrick Jones Jr, Aaron Gordon, Pat Connaughton, and 2008 slam dunk contest winner, Dwight Howard. Yeah you heard me!!!!! Back in 2008 Dwight Howard won the slam dunk contest and he is coming back this year, 12 years later.

To finish off this amazing and exciting all star weekend, the main event in the All Star Game will take place. Since last year, the two all star teams are called Team LeBron and Team Giannis. The NBA stopped making teams based on conference to make teams more fair. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo the team captains, picked the all star team by taking turns and choosing the players they wanted on their teams. The contestants for Team LeBron were all West players in the starting group. That meant the starters for Team Giannis are all East players. The starters for Team Lebron are Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Luka Donncic, James Harden, and of course LeBron James. The reserves for Team LeBron are Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Domantas Sabonis. The starters for Team Giannis are Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam, Kemba Walker, Trae Young, and of course Giannis Antetokounmpo. The reserves for Team Giannis are Khris Middleton, Bam Adebayo, Rudy Gobert, Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, Brandon Ingram, and Donovan Mitchell.
