Like every year, the offseason in the MLB is full of big and exciting trades and free agent signings. Here are the teams that won this offseasons trades and free agent signings.
First, there were many blockbuster trades and many exciting signings this offseason. Some of the best additions are Gerrit Cole going to the Yankees, Anthony Rendon going to the Angels, Dallas Keuchel going to the White Sox, Hyun-jin Ryu going to the Blue Jays, Mookie Betts going to the Dodgers, and Josh Donaldson going to the Twins.
The Winners This Offseason
Chicago White Sox- The White Sox have had a better offseason then any other team by far. Besides the White Sox adding one of the most quality players in the MLB this offseason, they have gotten the best players. Lets start witch catcher Yasmani Grandal. Grandal is a 2 time all star and was signed to a 4 year deal 78 million deal. Another top players signed by the White Sox was Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel was signed to a 3 year, 55 million deal. He is a 2× All-Star, World Series champion, he won the AL Cy Young Award in 2015, 4× Gold Glove Award champion, and an AL wins leader in 2015. The White Sox also signed Gio Gonzalez who is a 2 time all star and NL wins leader in 2012, and they signed Edwin Encarnacion who is a 3 time all star, and led the AL in RBI's in 2016. These players will join a pretty decent squad already containing Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada.
Miami Marlins- The Marlins additions this offseason will make the Marlins a better team without a doubt. The Marlins will still be a bad team in a tough NL East division. The Marlins signed Jonathon Villar, Jesus Aguilar, and Corey Dickerson. Jonathon Villar hit for the cycle last year against the Yankees and let the MLB in stolen bases in 2016. Aguilar was an all star in 2018, and the 1st seed in the 2018 home run derby. Dickerson was an all star in 2017 and won a gold glove award in 2018. The Marlins also got Matt Kemp who is a veteran. We will see how much he has left in the tank as he is older. Kemp is a 3 time all star, and a 2 time gold glove and silver slugger winner, among his top accomplishments. The Marlins also got Francisco Cervelli, Matt Joyce, Brandon Kintzler, who is an all star pitcher, and Sean Rodriguez.
Los Angeles Dodgers- The Dodgers got Mookie Betts, which highlights there whole offseason. Mookie Betts is now paired with Cody Bellinger. They are now a dynamic duo. Betts is a 4 time all star and gold glove winner. He is a 3 time silver slugger winner, AL batting champion in 2018, AL MVP in 2018, and hit for the cycle in 2018. The Dodgers received Betts and David Price in a 3 team trade. David Price is a 5 time all star, AL Cy Young award winner in 2012, AL comeback player of the year in 2018, AL wins leader in 2012, and a 2 time AL ERA leader. David Price will make up the loss of star pitcher, Hyun-jin Ryu.
The Yankees are considered neutral. If you had to pick if the Yankees won or lost this offseason, they would be a winner. The Yankees signed Gerrit Cole, one of the best pitchers in baseball. Cole is a 3 time all star, and led the Al in ERA and strikeouts last year. While this big move occurred, the Yankees lost Didi Gregorius, Edwin Encarnacion who is a 3 time all star, and star pitcher Dellin Betances, who is a 4 time all star.
