The Top 5 NFL Fan-bases

The Top 5 NFL Fan-bases

Kelly Reed April 13, 2020  Comments

The fans of the NFL are devoted, passionate, and love nothing more than winning (and screaming). Teams like the defending champion Chiefs, Packers, and Steelers have some of the best fans in the league, known for their relentless passion for their team. To be an NFL fan is a great experience, but these fans go above and beyond for their players.

  1. Green Bay Packers

Not only do Packers fans cheer loud at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, but some fans actually own the team. In 1923, the Packers were nearing bankruptcy, so they sold shares of the NFL team to fans. Nowadays, they have nearly 110,000 owners and are the only pro sports team to do this. In addition to being owners, fans in Wisconsin take the most pride in their “man caves”. From Packers fences outside to spending years creating replica Lombardi trophies, which they also take pride in having named it “Lombardi”, after their very famous and legendary coach, Vince Lombardi.

2. New Orleans Saints

When watching a game held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in downtown New Orleans, you hear the game differently. Not just any game, a Saints game. They’ve seen heartbreak, in the past 3 years' playoffs. They’ve seen triumph too, in their 2010 Super Bowl victory against the Indianapolis Colts, and their legendary QB Peyton Manning. Who Dat nation is what they’re called. This refers to their famous chant, “Who dat thinks they gonna beat them Saints”.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team that hasn’t seen pain in quite a while. In the wise words of any person, they would say, “when the team does well, being a fan is much more enjoyable”. The Steelers are tied for first place in Super Bowl victories, at 6. Even this year, they barely missed the playoffs with a third string, and without currently retired Antonio Brown, and Jets running back Le’veon Bell. The fans of the Steelers show their love with their famous Terrible Towels, and their loud cheering, even from home (my family are all Pittsburgh fans).

4. Oakland Raiders

Yes, I know that they moved to Vegas. This is a review of last season/general history. Raiders fans single-handedly created what is the infamous “Black hole”. Raiders fans served the true purpose of what fans are supposed to do- intimidate fans. With their eye black, costumes and masks, they were able to get in the competitors heads, and that’s why they are very high on my list.

5. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are one of the league’s best teams. They have been in the playoffs year after year, and are a very passionate fanbase. They created the “12” which refers to them being the twelfth man on the field, implying they are a key part of the outcome of the game. The Seahawks fans will cheer loud, wave their towels and get pumped up for a game. Not to mention they withstand extreme conditions like rain, cold, and wind. Seattle Seahawks fans are no doubt a top 5 in the league.
