So lets begin this post by saying that I am glad that Brady is gone. Steelers fans have been miserable because we know he's in the AFC. Now that he is in TB, we might have a shot at the title. However, enough about me and lets start talking about the whole picture.
HE WENT WHERE!!!!!!!
Phillip Rivers is a QB that has definitely seen better days. However, now he's heading to a team with the best Offensive Line in the NFL. At first you look at this deal and think, this isn't that bad of a deal. However, when you look deeper into it you say ugh. In LA he had elite receivers in Mike Williams, and Keenan Allen. Now in Indianapolis, he has injury prone T.Y. Hilton, Eric Ebron, and tons of rookies. If Rivers wants to win a Super Bowl, than Indy is not the ideal solution. The entire team each of the last couple of years has been in the top 5 in injuries. To summarize, Rivers is a great player with lots of talent. However, to win a Super Bowl he has to look for teams willing to compete.
TEDDY TO CAROLINA
Now Carolina might have a bigger problem than the Colts. Right now they have 2 rookies that have shown promise to be potential starters in Will Grier, and Kyle Allen. When you see Teddy Bridgewater go to Carolina, my opinion is he's gonna start. The reason behind that is, Cam Newton is a wild card and should be shipped elsewhere, the two rookies should battle for the backup role, and Teddy has one some games. The main reason I think they picked up Teddy is because he can win. He's been to the playoffs and has shown promise. Regardless, the Panthers are in a sticky situation, and only a miracle will fix the mess they're in.
FOLES TO THE BEARS
This is the one trade that actually makes sense. In a lot of peoples minds, the narrative in Chicago was to bring in a veteran to push Trubisky, and create a QB battle. This is what Chicago fans need. They need to see a veteran come in and push Trubisky to either bring out the best in him, and or, make someone new the starting QB in Chicago. The team that is trading Foles is starting a rebuild. Jaguars fans are gonna have to build off the stash, and lots and lots of draft picks. After trading there best defensive player in Calais Campbell, and star corner A.J Bouye, they are in for failure. To summarize, the Bears could be contenders and the Jaguars will for sure be pretenders.
TB 12 to TB
Tom Brady is going to Tampa Bay. The people in Tampa have to be stoked. I mean they are getting a three time MVP, and a 6 time Super Bowl Champion. On the flip side they are getting an aging and possibly near retirement Brady. Nevertheless, this is a sweet move for Tampa. Brady is working with a great coach who has worked Big Ben, Carson Palmer, and Peyton Manning. This means that Tom Brady should be in good hands. For the Patriots however, they will have to either look for remaing free agents, the Draft, or the new #1 Jarrett Stidham. Either way, they should be in good hands with Bill Belichick still coaching the Pats. For Tom, he is getting some weapons in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, who both racked up 1000 yards last year. To summarize, Patriots fans are devastated, but should be grateful, and Tampa fans should be fortunate they hired Bruce Arians as their Head Coach.
THE OTHER QB"S
This list is so special we'll need two paragraphs to write about it. Lets start with, Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, and Andy Dalton. With Cam Newton, there is a lot to talk about. Before his injuries he was a great QB, but now he is a QB praying that some team still cares about him. There are multiple teams that could look to pursue him, but it is risky. The way he plays, it is hard to keep him long term. Now for Jameis Winston, there is another problem. He is careless with the Football and quite frankly might need to find a team where he will sit behind someone and learn from them before he gets thrown on the field. Or maybe he needs a new coach who will show him the way. For Jameis though, he has to hope at least one team saw that he led the league in passing last year. Finally, I get to discuss Andy Dalton. Andy is a quarterback that is not that old, but not that young. He has declined over the last couple of years, possibly due to injury or the front office changes. Regardless, he looks like he will be finding a new team with Joe Burrow on the way. Wherever he land, he should fit in enough to lead the team he plays for to a couple winning seasons. To summarize, Cam should pay people still care, Jameis should pray that people don't care about turnovers, and Andy should pray that people don't look at his injury history.
THE NEXT GROUP OF QB'S
The next tier of Quarterbacks is Alex Smith, Taysom Hill, and Joe Flacco. For Alex Smith his career cam to a halt when he had a leg injury in 2018. However, for Alex, he was a successful playoff QB year in and year out with the Chiefs. The only thing keeping him back is injuries, because if there were no injuries, he could be a starter right away. Now for Taysom Hill his market might be a little harder. Yes he made people go wow, and ooh in the Superdome, I am not sure he can find a starting job right away. For him unfortunately he might be the typical backup who can fire up a team and get some wins. He still has promise to be a starter, so we will have to see where he goes. Finally for Joe Flacco, there is a lot to see. He was a Super Bowl winner while he was young in Baltimore, but they let him go for Lamar. So for Joe, he will have to accept the fact that he is old and washed up. he is not at the same level he was before so he also might be a typical backup that will go from team to team to finish his career. To summarize, Alex Smith could be a starter with no injuries, Taysom Hill has some serious promise, and Joe Flacco will have to sit on the back burner to finish out his career.
