Philadelphia Eagles 2020 Season Predictions: Weeks 1-8
The Philadelphia Eagles went 9-7 last season and made the Wild Card but lost to the Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles made new moves this offseason by getting rid of Nelson Agholor. On the upside - they picked up Marquise Goodwin from the 49ers also picked up Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay, also a great fit for the team. In this years NFL Draft they selected Jalen Reagor from TCU and selected Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts in the second round. With a new look roster, do the eagles have what it takes to get back in the postseason?
Week 1: At Redskins
The Washington Redskins went 3-13 last season and earned the Number 2 pick in this years' NFL Draft, they selected defensive monster Chase Young. Even with Chase Young, I do not expect them to be much better. The Eagles will roll their way to a 1-0 start.
Week 2: At Home vs Rams
Many people are saying that this is a test for the Eagles in Week 2. Sure, The Rams have a bunch of talent on offense and defense but the rams are very streaky and some games they are not on point. This game I think they will not be ready for this test against the Eagles. So I think the Eagles take this game and go to 2-0 on the season
Week 3: At Home vs Bengals
The Bengals went 2-14 last year and earned the Number 1 pick in the NFL draft. They selected future NFL Star QB Joe Burrow from LSU. Even with Burrow I do not think the Bengals are contenders, they are still in a rebuild but selecting Burrow is the perfect start to it. I would not say this is going to be a blowout, but the Eagles will win by a good margin and beat Cincinnati to improve to 3-0.
Week 4: At 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers went 4-12 in the 2018 season. They responded in 2019 being 13-3 and being the #1 seed in the NFC. The Eagles have no shot of winning this game, especially since the game is in San Francisco. The Eagles will have trouble with young 49ers superstar Nick Bosa who recorded 9 sacks as a rookie last season. The Eagles will fall on Sunday Night Football and lose their first game to the 49ers.
Week 5: At Steelers
Two really tough places to play in a row. The 49ers and Steelers have some loud and crazy fans. Big Ben is back for Pittsburgh this season and also on defense they have Pro Linebacker T.J Watt who is a nightmare on defense. Also, Star Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will give the Eagles some trouble as well. On offense they have a bunch of talent, Playing at Heinz Field is a huge factor, Eagles will lose this game and fall two straight away from home.
Week 6: At Home vs Ravens
The Eagles will have to figure out a plan to stop the explosive 3rd year quarterback Lamar Jackson and their offense. Second-year wide receiver Marquise Brown is very fast and hard to guard on defense. Veteran Running back Mark Ingram will also give the Eagles trouble. The Ravens also drafted future star running back J.K Dobbins in the second round of this years NFL draft. This offense is near-impossible to stop. Explosive on all sides. Do not forget their very talented defense as well. The Eagles will get blown out on their home turf to Baltimore.
Week 7: At Home vs Giants
Daniel Jones showed some promise last year as a rookie but I do not think he will make a big impact on next years' season. Superstar running back Saquon Barkley will give the Eagles a bit of trouble. Tight end Evan Engram is also pretty solid. The Giants have a solid offense but their defense is terrible. The Giants do not have a game changer on defense. Also, New York was tied for the worst road record in the NFL last season. The Giants do not have what it takes to beat the Eagles on the road. The Eagles will get back to their winning ways.
Week 8: At Home vs Cowboys
Many people are saying that the Cowboys are talented enough to beat the Eagles on the road. I am not one of those people, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys struggle at Lincoln Financial Field. Getting rid of Jason Garrett this winter was a good move for the team. They hired Super Bowl winning coach Mike McCarthy. Getting rid of Jason Witten and Byron Jones are key losses. The Cowboys still have talent on both sides; however, they will not come to Lincoln Financial Field and win this year. Eagles will win by 2 possessions.
