14 NBA teams had matchups on Tuesday in the bubble at Walt Disney World Resort, and the games didn't disappoint. The games featured teams resting starters as well as teams fighting for their playoff lives. Below is a recap of all seven games from Tuesday.
Nets vs. Magic
The Brooklyn Nets beat the Orlando Magic 108-96 in the first matchup on Tuesday. The Nets had nine players who played in the game, although no Nets player played 32 minutes or more. Brooklyn was led by a pair of 24 point efforts from Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Jeremiah Martin, and they had four other players in double figures. Markelle Fultz and Wes Iwundu both scored 18 points for the Magic in a losing effort.
Rockets vs. Spurs
With James Harden resting, the Spurs beat the Rockets 123-105 in a game where they were always in control. The Spurs jumped out to a 17 point lead at halftime and never looked back, and every time Houston chipped away at the lead, the Spurs would find a way to score. Keldon Johnson led San Antonio with 24 points, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 23 as well. Russell Westbrook led the Rockets with 20 points, but it was clear he was having a hard time running the offense without Harden. To hear live coverage of the game, click the link below.
Suns vs. 76ers
The Suns continued their perfect record in the bubble, improving to 7-0 with a 130-117 win over the 76ers to move into a tie for the 9th seed in the West with Memphis. The Suns are now just a half game out of 8th place in the West, and they have a chance to secure the 8th seed with another win. Devin Booker continued to be a scoring machine, leading the Suns with 35 points to go with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Alec Burks led Philadelphia with 23 points in a game where the 76ers rested multiple starters.
Celtics vs. Grizzlies
Jayson Tatum scored 29 points in 29 minutes and the Boston Celtics defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 122-107 in the fourth NBA bubble game from Tuesday. The Celtics were up by 16 at halftime, and while the Grizzlies cut the lead to 10 by the end of the third quarter, they were unable to complete a comeback. Ja Morant led Memphis with 26 points.
Trail Blazers vs. Mavericks
Damian Lillard racked up 61 points and the Portland Trail Blazers eked out a victory over the Dallas Mavericks 134-131. The two teams both jockeyed back and forth throughout the game, but Portland - who led by eight points at the half - was able to secure the victory. Kristaps Porzingis scored 36 points for the Mavericks in the loss.
Bucks vs. Wizards
The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Washington Wizards 126-113 in a game in which Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo only played for 10 minutes. Antetokounmpo scored 12 points to go with nine rebounds on the day. Brook Lopez led the Bucks with 24 points, and Sterling Brown added 23. Rui Hachimura scored 20 points for the Wizards and Ish Smith added 19 in the loss.
Pelicans vs. Kings
In the last bubble game on Tuesday, the Sacramento Kings defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 112-106. Harrison Barnes scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Kings, who were only up by one at halftime. Jahlil Okafor scored 21 points for the Pelicans, who were battered after Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson all missed the game.
There are many interesting storylines that came out of the seven bubble games on Tuesday. With the seeding period winding down, teams who are in the hunt for the playoffs have very little time to make a move. Teams on the bubble for the playoffs will be fighting for their lives over the next few days, and some very entertaining basketball will certainly be happening as a result.
