Is Matt Harvey making a comeback to the Big Apple? Is Matt Harvey even good enough to make an MLB comeback?
Matt Harvey's dominance on the field has significantly decreased over the years. Matt Harvey is trying to make an MLB comeback and has been working very hard during this quarantine. Most MLB fans including myself, believe that if Matt Harvey makes a comeback to the MLB, he will land with his old team in the Mets where he spent most of his career and the best parts of his career.
Harvey is 31 years old and has been dealing and struggling over the past years with injuries and ineffectiveness. Harvey is currently a free agent and has last played for the Angels. Harvey has tried out with the Blue jays this offseason and is trying to find a landing spot. Matt Harvey made a statement about his future in the MLB.
Matt Harvey told Dan Martin of the New York Post that "I hope somebody gives me a shot. I feel like I have many more years in me."
Matt Harvey without a doubt has had a fantastic career, but it could have been much better. If Harvey dealt with less injuries these last few years, I believe that Harvey would still be called the dark night on the Mets. Matt Harvey was an all star back in 2013 and won Comeback player of the Year in 2015, when the Mets made the World Series. Harvey last was on the Mets in the middle of 2018 when the Mets traded him to the Reds. Last year on the Angels, Harvey struggled and was released in July. Since then, Harvey has been trying really hard to make a comeback. Harvey made a statement about how he can make a comeback.
"I hope I get the opportunity," Harvey said regarding his hope to return to the majors. "I feel like I'm in high school again, where I have to showcase myself and start all over. I just want to put myself in position to be ready and if it doesn't work out, to know I put the effort in to make a comeback."

The Mets would definitely be open to welcoming back Harvey. Even if Harvey is not in the starting rotation, Harvey will work his way in. He is very familiar with the Mets organization and pitching staff. Harvey has pitched with Jacob DeGrom, Steven Matz, and Noah Syndergaard. Also, this move to bring Harvey back will make the Mets fan base happy. Harvey was known as the Dark Night on the Mets and was their ace before DeGrom came a star pitcher. With Syndergaard having Tommy John Surgery, Harvey could fill in his spot on the roster, but not in the rotation. Harvey could definitely be used as a minor league pitcher, and then can be called up to replace an injured Met. Sadly over the years, the Mets have been known for their injuries so Harvey could very well be used as a starter in the rotation if he is on the Mets.
