The 1st round of the 2019 NFL Draft produced some great players. Most players turned out to be pretty solid, but there were a select few that really stood out in their rookie season. 7 out of the 10 players selected in the top 10 were on the defensive side of the ball and the best players of the top 10 were on defense. All of the defensive players taken in the top 10 are members of the front 7 and most of the players worked out for their teams. This is a 3 part series, so lets get into the top 10.

Kyler Murray was taken by the Arizona Cardinals with the 1st overall pick in the 2019 draft. Murray won Offensive Rookie of the Year as the starting quarterback for a bad Cardinals team. Murray was solid, but nothing crazy so he gets a B+. Nick Bosa was taken by the San Francisco 49ers with the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 draft. Bosa won Defensive Rookie of the Year and had the 2nd highest sacks for a rookie. Bosa was a huge part of the NFC Champion 49ers, so he gets an A. Quinnen Williams was taken by the New York Jets with the 3rd overall picks in the 2019 draft. Williams was alright, but did not do anything great. Williams did not do much to elevate a bad team, so he gets a C. Clelin Ferrell was taken by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 4th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Ferrell was not great on an average team. He was a mediocre pass rusher, but below expectations, his grade is a C.

Devin White was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 5th overall pick in the 2019 draft. White was a great linebacker for the Buccaneers in his rookie season. He is already one of the best players on the great Buccaneers defense, so he gets an A-. Daniel Jones was taken by the New York Giants with the 6th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Jones was the 2nd offensive player taken in the draft and he was chosen to be the franchise quarterback for the Giants. Jones has a turnover problem, but he also has a very bright future, so he gets a B. Josh Allen was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 7th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Allen was a pro bowler in his rookie season and led all rookies in sacks. Allen was a fantastic linebacker for Jacksonville in his rookie season, so he gets an A.

T.J. Hockenson was taken by the Detroit Lions with the 8th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Hockenson was solid for the Lions and he was underused. He should be very good in the future, so he gets a B. Ed Oliver was taken by the Buffalo Bills with the 9th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Oliver was a pretty good defensive lineman for Buffalo and added great depth to the Bills defensive line. Oliver has a bright future, so he gets a B. To finish the top 10, Devin Bush was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 10th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Bush was a great linebacker and will only get better. He is great in coverage and insanely athletic, so he gets an A-.
