I guess Gronk wants to trade the tyrant in Bill Belichick for the dictator Vince McMahon.
It looks like former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is very close to returning to professional athletics, but it's not the NFL like most of Pat's Nation is hoping for, but many reports came out Wednesday morning that Gronk is very close to signing a deal with WWE.
The rumors that Gronkowski is going to World Wrestling Entertainment has been floating around since Gronk appeared at WrestleMania to help out his buddy Mojo Rawley win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Nobody is really sure how Gronk will be used on screen, but his larger than life personality and towering physique seems perfect for the sports entertainment world, and I highly doubt that Gronk will be committing to any kind of full time schedule.
This also probably seals the deal that Gronkowski will not be returning to the New England Patriots. I guess Gronk wants to trade the tyrant in Bill Belichick for the dictator Vince McMahon.
I have no idea if Gronkowski has been training to be a wrestler or if this will be some sort of NXT deal, but I highly doubt that McMahon would waste the star power and the larger than life personality of Rob Gronkowski on his C show.
Gronk has expressed interest in joining WWE in the past, but made it clear that he would want to be involved in a match, he didn't want to be a full time wrestler.
"With wrestling, I don't feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I'm down for. And that's to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there, like in a Royal Rumble, go out there, I got my friend in WWE [Rawley], practice it and do a full-on WWE match. I'm not saying when. Maybe five years. I got the rest of my life to do that. I've always dreamed about doing that, just one time, going in there and going full out. That may be a possibility, one time, down the road."
Gronk's buddy Mojo Rawley has been advocating from Gronkowski to join the WWE. John Cena who's been one of the biggest Superstars in professional wrestling for over a decade had also made his bid for Gronk join the WWE back in 2018.
"I think he'd be a great WWE Superstar. I really do. I think he's got this unbelievable energy and infectious electricity about him. I think if he wants to take off the pads and step in the arena, I think he'll feel right at home."
This news definitely means something to football fans, it means a lot to Patriots fans, but I have no idea how much a typical wrestling fan really cares about Gronkowski joining the ranks of WWE who has given jobs to other pro athletes like Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar.
Just yesterday I was reading a blog where the writer was making his pitch to the Patriots to convince Gronkowski to come out of retirement. If this deal between Gronk and the WWE gets done, it should officially end all of the: Gronkowski back to the Patriots nonsense. We just need to accept that he's done with playing professional football, and he's exploring other things to do with his life.
