Dak Prescott will remain the QB for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys placed an exclusive franchise tag on Prescott so no other team can sign him. There has been talks dating back to the middle of last season of the Cowboys making a deal with him. It was obvious that the Cowboys were desperate to keep Prescott as their QB.
Prescott is a 2 time pro bowler and won Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016. Prescott threw his most touchdowns and yards last year in 2019. Prescott threw 30 touchdowns and threw for 4,902 yards, which was the 2nd most in the NFL.
This deal doesn't secure Prescott's future on the Cowboys. This tag gives the Cowboys time to work out a long-term deal. This deal is around 33 million, according to the Cowboys. The Cowboys will have until July 15 to sign him to a multi-year deal before the start of the 2020 season.
In all, this was an expected and well needed deal. Dak Prescott is an overall great QB to have. He is one of the most mobile QB's in the NFL, and one of the most gifted passers. The Cowboys made the smart decision to pay him before he gets too expensive.
